Korovisilou Nutrition Project

PCV Lillian Ma brought this project to Friends of Fiji requesting funding of $580 USD.  Project description:

The grant will be used to conduct a series of targeted outreaches (5) to communities identified with the highest number of malnutrition cases. We will be targeting the mothers of these cases individually, bringing the team (dietitian, midwife, peer educator, nurse) directly to the mothers. This will allow us the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with the mothers, to counsel them on breastfeeding and proper nutrition, to develop a personalized nutrition plan for their children and to answer any questions that they may have in regards to their children’s health.

Message from Korovisilou Health Center after project kick off:

Second malnutrition outreach, out of 5 total. Today we went to Navutulevu. We prepared breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the mums to see the contents of the meals, the consistency of the mashed food and the portion size. And then we feasted! Vinaka Dietitian Rusila and S/N Asenaca for your wisdom and dedication to improving malnutrition status for children in Fiji. And of course a big vinaka vaka levu to Friends of Fiji who has made these malnutrition outreaches possible.
